Det. Ryan Chubbuck was named Deputy of the Quarter during the Feb. 18 Lincoln County Commissioners’ meeting. Sheriff Todd Brackett presented him with a certificate.

Brackett said he is in the process of hiring another animal control officer, Katherine Buehrer, who has worked for Midcoast Humane and has a great deal of experience with animals. He said the Sheriff’s Office is still seeking a full-time animal control officer.

County Administrator Carrie Kipfer announced the promotion of Cheryl Murray to District Attorney Office Supervisor; Murray’s former job of Victim Witness Advocate will be posted externally.

Commissioners approved an out of state travel funding request for the Communications Department to the Navigator Conference, a training seminar, in the amount of $1,001.25 for lodging. Communications Director Tom Nelson said the total amount, including air travel and food, would not exceed $2,000.

Commissioners approved a request by Emergency Management Agency Director Casey Stevens to pay for engineering at the Hunt Hill site in Newcastle where the emergency AM radio station will broadcast from. The $4,000 cost comes from Homeland Security grants. He also received approval to buy SCBA bottle replacements for the Haz-Mat team. Those funds also come from Homeland Security grants.
