Edgecomb Fire and Rescue report
Edgecomb Fire and Rescue responded to 10 calls in August, compared with 22 calls in July. August calls included one fire, one fire alarm, two medical emergencies (MEs), and six motor vehicle accidents (MVAs). For the year-to-date, we have responded to 177 calls, slightly fewer than 198 calls at the same time last year.
Trainings during September included Mutual Aid Training and Extraction Training. Other training included our monthly “Truck Check” of all apparatus and equipment. The department was the grateful recipient of some new equipment graciously donated by the Gavin Martin Foundation on Sept. 26. The Gavin Martin Foundation is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Gavin Martin, a 21-year-old Edgecomb firefighter who died in a car crash in December 2025. Ongoing training and proper equipment are critical in maintaining our readiness to respond to any call.

Annual Fish Fry, Nov. 7
Please save the date, Nov. 7, for the EFD Auxiliary’s annual fish fry. This community event features fried fish or fried chicken tenders with all the trimmings and is a meaningful way to honor veterans on Veterans Day. The fish fry is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds are used to supplement our budget, which helps reduce the town’s taxes.
Weekly meetings
The department meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. Anyone interested in learning more about the department is welcome to attend. We are always looking for more volunteers. No experience necessary!
