Fidium ‘Gig Town’ ribbon-cutting in Wiscasset Aug. 14
Local officials, business leaders and community members will celebrate new fiber connectivity in Lincoln County, and the new Gig Town designation for communities, during a ribbon cutting Thursday, Aug. 14 hosted by Lincoln County, towns, Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) and Fidium to celebrate expansive access to multi-gig speed fiber broadband in the county.
More than 36,000 Lincoln County-area homes and businesses are now able to access multi-gig internet speeds from Fidium. This new access makes Lincoln County the first all-fiber county in Maine, allowing residents and business owners in Alna, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Dresden, Edgecomb, Nobleboro, Southport, Waldoboro, Whitefield, Wiscasset and the Sagadahoc County town of Woolwich to benefit from improved educational outcomes, reduced healthcare costs and enhanced economic potential.
The 5:30 p.m. celebration at Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Road, will include a ribbon-cutting and remarks from state, county and local officials and Fidium representatives.
