Fort Edgecomb, a historic gem in Edgecomb’s front yard, is perched high on a peaceful, scenic bluff at the tip of Davis Island, with breathtaking views down the Sheepscot River. When was the last time you experienced a visit to this old, majestic octagonal blockhouse?

On Sunday, Aug. 9, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Edgecomb Historical Society will sponsor an Open House at Fort Edgecomb. This rare opportunity will offer free tours of the Fort by the park ranger, exhibits and family activities by the Historical Society, an ice cream truck by Blanchard’s Ice Cream, and melodious tunes by the Broken Hipsters String Band. In case of rain, the Open House will be held Sunday, Aug. 16. 

Parking is limited at the Fort, and no parking is allowed on Fort Road. For additional parking, visitors will be directed to park at the Edgecomb Community Church on Cross Point Road where a shuttle van will transport them to the Fort.
