Garden Club hosts speaker August 13
Pete Didisheim, senior director of advocacy, will be the featured speaker at the August 13 meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club.
Didisheim came to the National Resources Council of Maine in 1996. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College in biology and environmental studies and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government.
Among numerous governmental positions, Didisheim had been chief of staff for U.S. Congressman George Brown, Jr. (D-CA), special assistant to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Hazel R. O’Leary, and executive director of the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board. Didisheim has worked for other nonprofits and serves on the board of the MINE League of Conservation Voters.
He lives in Brunswick with his wife and two children. He will mostly talk about the Proposed National Park in Maine and other things the NRC does.
There will be a round table talk of “window sill gardens” by club member Pat Young. She will share ideas for home office and vacation spots at noon preceding the general meeting at 1 p.m. at St. Columba’s Church on Emery Lane. Guests are always welcome at Garden Club meetings.
