Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust naturalist Sarah Gladu will lead a gentle spring walkatSalt Bay Farm in Damariscottafrom 8to 11a.m. on Friday, May 22.
The walk will offer an ideal opportunity to practice bird identification and look for newly returned migratory birds. A variety of habitats make Salt Bay Farm a popular birding destination. Visitors may see waterfowl, wading birds, raptors, and grassland birds such as Bobolinks and Savannah sparrows, among others.Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars if they have them, or may borrow a pair. Beginning birders are welcome!
A network of mown trails through rolling hayfields alongside Great Salt Bay make Salt Bay Farm a beautiful and accessible destination for visitors of all ages. Footing is fairly smooth and even, with gradual changes in elevation. Some spots along the trails can be muddy and slippery in springtime.
