Are you a parent living in Lincoln County? Are you a professional in Lincoln County working with families? Healthy Kids Resource Center is open to all from Waldoboro to Wiscasset, Jefferson/Whitefield to Boothbay and everywhere in between.

The center has a terrific lending library of pregnancy and parenting books covering all topics including child development, temperament, brain development, discipline, special needs, bullying, sleep, teens, blended families, single families, grief, grand parenting of your children’s kids, divorce, preemies and more. And even with the online resources available, it is always nice to have already researched resources available. The center has many children’s books that can be borrowed as well.

In addition to the library, the center has a wonderful playroom that can be used during business hours. It is also the home of the Monday playgroup held at the center from 10-12 for families with children 0-5 where parents can get out of the house and talk with other parents, and kids can socialize. All the toys are also able to be borrowed if a family would be interested. Healthy Kids can also lend an ear and connect families and professionals to other community resources that might be helpful. Playgroups are also held weekly in Waldoboro, Wiscasset and Boothbay.

We all know that no parent has all the right answers all of the time so the center offers parenting classes for all ages of children. They are evidence based and can be done in the center, at a local school or day care or in your home with a few friends who would like to learn some helpful hints about child development, discipline, communication etc.

So, give Healthy Kids a call or drop in. The center is open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. or by appointment. The playroom is open until noon each day. All services are free. Call 563-1818 or log onto www.healthykidsmaine.org for more information.
