Hearts Forever Young show set for June 14, 15 & 16






Performing on stage at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta on June 14, 15 and 16 at 2 p.m., Heart Forever Young (formerly known at Young at Heart) will present a program of songs, dances and comedy taken from silent to present movies. Dubbed from “Reel to Real – A Salute to the Silver Screen,” this will be the fourth annual production of the group
With a small orchestra accompaniment, some highlights of the performance will include “The Sheik” from the Valentino silent film of the 1920s, to the 1946 Song of the South's “Zippity-Do-Dah,” through the 1979 Muppet Movie hit, “Rainbow Connection.” Interspersed with these and many other film hits are a comedy skit, barbershop quartets, lively dances and duets.
The 52 members of Hearts Forever Young are from 11 Midcoast communities.
Rehearsals for the yearly performances are held at the Lincoln Home in Newcastle on Wednesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Prospective members from ages 60 to 100 are welcome.
Music director is Sean Fleming; artistic/stage director is Carol Teel; choreographer is Carol Cirigliano; Sandra Lane and Ann Leavitt are fiscal agents; Rita Cherubini is on-stage director; photographer is Bob Gorrill; consultant is John Mulcahy; and brochure designer is John Whally. Producer is Carol Schell.
Pending 501 (c) (3) nonprofit status, a donation of $10 per person, non-deductible will be gratefully received at the door before the performances.
