Holiday Marketfest Snow Ball a huge success

Tue, 12/17/2019 - 2:30pm

On Sunday night of Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest, Dec. 8, the windows of The Ledges, the magnificent building on Route 1 as you enter the Village, were shaking with the dancing, clapping, and laughter as the Snow Ball hit a fevered pitch. The event has been in planning since last January when The Ledges’ owner, George Freeman, generously gave the OK to use the landmark 1845 building for the 2019 Snow Ball. Ticket sales for the Snow Ball were brisk and sold out within days of the offering.

The Salty Dogs moved the crowd to dance the night away and the layout of the building allowed people to grab a table or seating in the front rooms, if conversation was more to their liking.

The food and cash bar were catered by Sarah's Café, and Susan Robson, a manager with Sarah's, worked very hard to make each detail successful. The two fireplaces were donned with décor while the tables were enhanced by long white tablecloths and lanterns with seasonal greens and berries. The feature was the Christmas tree that looked majestic in the prominent bay window. Marketfest volunteers Terri Wells and Michelle Peele provided all the splendid décor.

This vibrant event serves as a fitting end to the Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest weekend and as a means to bring all members of the community together with food, drink, dance, and laughter. It was a success. A giant thank you to all members of the community who attended and to the detailed attention from Sarah's Cafe.

Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest, held on the first full weekend of December, is a joint project of Wiscasset Creative Alliance and the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce.
