The Lincoln Home in Newcastle has two public events scheduled.

Pianist Michael McCarthy will entertain at Lincoln Home on Friday, Dec. 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. and maritime historian Bud Warren will talk about "Schooners on the Coast of Maine" on Monday, Dec. 14 from 3 to 4 p.m.

McCarthy will play holiday music. He performs at weddings, restaurants, college shows, private parties as well as at independent and assisted living homes. You will not want to miss his performance as he uses various holiday clips in conjunction with his extraordinary piano music.

Like the large trucks of today, it was schooners that carried goods along the Maine coast a century or so ago. Hundreds of schooners delivered essential cargoes to ports of Midcoast Maine and moved local products to markets near and far. Maritime historian Bud Warren will feature their stories and images during his talk.
