“Illustrated Passages” is on exhibit at the Maine Art Gallery. The artists, regardless of the subject of their artworks, have selected a piece of text – a sentence, paragraph or quotation – to accompany their art.

To the viewer, this additional thought acts like the soundtrack to a movie and adds so much to the enjoyment of the artwork. With this clue provided by the artist, what might have been seen as an indecipherable abstract artwork becomes a thought provoking moment.

Please join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, July 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren St. in Wiscasset. This exhibit runs through Aug. 19.
