James McCaffery

James Thomas McCaffery of Stonington, Conn., formerly of Boothbay Harbor, died suddenly at home from a stroke on February 20, 2013.

He was born in Norwich, Connecticut on August 25, 1925 to Margaret Morley and Edward McCaffery.

He was a proud Marine who served in the South Pacific Islands in World War II. 

He married Lorette (Lou) Des Jardins on October 11, 1947 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Norwick, Connecticut. He retired in 1985 from Connecticut Light & Power after 35 years as a chief lineman.

He was a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Boothbay Harbor where he was a daily communicant; a member of the Boothbay Harbor Fire Department, and a member of American Legion Post #36, Boothbay Harbor.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, James, and son, David, both of Stonington, Connecticut; a daughter Jane (McCaffery) De Lisle of Boca Raton, Florida; two grandsons, Sean Patrick of Storrs, Connecticut and David James of Stonington, Connecticut; a sister, Margaret (McCaffery) Kuzyk of Norwich, Connecticut’ and several nieces and nephews.
