Dear Editor:

Several weeks ago, based on historical data showing a modest annual seal level rise, I submitted a letter recommending that Wiscasset pause 50 years and then reassess the need to move the sewage treatment plant. My logic in using raw data from reliable ocean level monitoring stations not corrected by local weather conditions was questioned by a reader. I am concerned about the recently introduced correction factors. In the 1990's Climategate 1 and 2 followed by Glaciergate showed manipulation and overstating the consequences of the so-called climate crisis. These failures showed a trend of data manipulation that I believe continues today. I am not alone in observing this concern.

Tens of thousands of scientists disagree with the global warming emergency narrative and have gone on record. One group is the Climate Intelligence Foundation with their World Climate Declaration. Their members include Richard Lindzen Ph.D. - Professor Emeritus of Atmospheric Sciences at MIT, John F. Clauser Ph.D. - Nobel Prize in Physics, Ivar Giaever Ph.D. - Nobel Prize in Physics, and Guus Berkhout Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Geophysics Delft University of Technology. Many in that group have expressed concerns about data adjustments, homogenization of temperature records, selective use of data, lack of transparency, and politicalization of the subject.

The data I presented in the original article was scientifically chosen and avoided the use of “correction factors.” Until recently readings were taken and maintained by “disinterested parties,” a necessary requirement for clean data. Now the process has been corrupted by ideologues. I verified my logic using Artificial Intelligence and as expected, it was found to be a legitimate scientific method. The following is a quote, “Monthly and annual averages already suppress most storm and barometric noise, so the long-term signal is relatively robust.” I consider that a small price to pay to avoid an opportunity to corrupt the data.

I will close with a quote on this subject by Dr. Syun-Ichi Akasofu, a geophysicist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, - “When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.”
