After months of campaigning, more than 21,000 votes cast and an official recount, a winner has been decided in the Maine State Senate District 20 race.

On Wednesday, Christopher Johnson, D-Somerville, remained the winner in the District 20 race over Les Fossel, R-Alna. The recount, which was conducted by the Maine Secretary of State's office concluded10,943 votes were cast for Johnson while 10,772 people cast their ballots for Fossel.

The unofficial numbers, which were collected on election day, indicated that Johnson had won, 10,880 to Fossel's 10,746.
