Julie A. Witzell
Julie Ann (Dow) Witzell, of Edgecomb, Maine, formerly of Upton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 79.
Julie, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor Dow, grew up in Natick, Massachusetts.
In 1970, Julie married the love of her life, William Witzell, sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband, William Witzell; her daughter, Lynne McLain and her husband, Brian; her son, Greg Witzell; and her cherished grandchildren, Michael McLain, Cody McLain, and Katie Witzell. She also leaves behind four sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Eleanor Dow, her daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Vincent) Witzell, and niece Kristina Bartlett.
Family was the center of Julie's world. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with those she loved. She had a heart of gold, an unforgettable sense of humor, and an artistic eye for both painting and writing.
Julie loved browsing yard sales and thrift shops in search of hidden treasures, especially cookbooks to add to her ever-growing collection. She enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. It was these simple joys, along with her generous spirit and gentle kindness, that made her so special.
Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we are grateful for the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Julie's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We are deeply grateful for the wonderful staff at St. Andrews Retirement Home for their care and love for Julie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The American Legion, 25 Industrial Park Road, Boothbay.
Julie will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
