Kennebec Early Music Festival next month

    The Kennebec Early Music Festival will be held Aug. 11-18  in the Long Reach Hall, Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St., Bath, and the intimate Linden Tree Meeting House, 10 Church Lane, in Phippsburg.

    All concerts have an interactive pre-show discussion 45 minutes before with our performers about their instruments. It has been a favorite. Concerts are evenings at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday concerts will be at 3 p.m.

    Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 seniors, $10 students and young adults (ages 17–25) and available on the festival’s website: www.kemfmaine.org. “Kid’s Come Free” admits ages 7–16 with one accompanying adult per child.

    Sunday, Aug. 11 - 3 p.m. at Maine Maritime Museum: “Baroque Riches” - Dynamic classical chamber music ... a baroque music lover's delight! Musicians: Vicki Boeckman, Baroque recorders; Sarah Freiberg, 1784 Merlin violoncello and Jillon Stoppels Dupree, late 18th-century French harpsichord.  This dynamic trio perform chamber music spanning the entire Baroque era, from van Eyck to Vivaldi, from Italy and France.
     
    Tuesday, Aug. 13 -  7:30 p.m. at Maine Maritime Museum - “BACH.”  Enjoy the music of the Bachs, father and son, and their good friend Telemann, with an overture, a rondo, fantasias, and suites of dances from late baroque Germany. Musicians: Vicki Boeckman, Baroque recorders; Susanna Ogata, 1772 Klotz violin; Sarah Freiberg, 1784 Merlin violoncello and Tamara Friedman, 1780 South German Fortepiano.
     
    Wednesday, Aug. 14 - 7:30 p.m. at the Linden Tree Meeting House in Phippsburg (tickets for this show through brownpapertickets.com): “BACH.” Musicians: Susanna Ogata, 1772 Klotz violin; Sarah Freiberg, 1784 Merlin violoncello and Tamara Friedman, 1780 South German Fortepiano.

    Friday, Aug. 16 -  7:30 p.m. at the Linden Tree Meeting House:  “Old Vienna Night” - travel back to old Vienna with music by the Viennese masters, Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert with musicians Thomas Carroll, classical clarinets; Susanna Ogata, 1772 Klotz violin; Sarah Freiberg, 1784 Merlin violoncello and Tamara Friedman, 1795 Viennese fortepiano.

    Sunday, Aug. 18 - 3 p.m. at Maine Maritime Museum:  “The Classical Consort” - The gang's all here for a rousing finale. Offering you a varied concert of chamber music by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven are Thomas Carroll, classical clarinet and basset horn; Susanna Ogata, 1772 Klotz violin; Sarah Darling, 1619 Amati viola;  Sarah Freiberg, 1784 Merlin violoncello and Tamara Friedman, 1795 Viennese fortepiano.
