To the last

Wed, 10/02/2019 - 8:45am

To some of the last of the regular traffic backups Wiscasset may see until next year, we can say we’ve seen years with more extreme backups, and years that ran lighter. We’ll be interested to report on next year’s traffic with the changes downtown.

To the last weeks of work underway on the project until any finishing touches next year, we say thank you to the crews for your labor, the state for its investment; and thank you to every resident, visitor, or businessperson who has worked, walked, shopped, dined, lived with nighttime noise, paid rent or taxes, or parked during it.

To the last of the summery blue skies we’ve been getting, we say we have been fortunate and hope they are long in leaving. The white sky of winter will show up soon, and stay so long.

To the last of this year’s art walks and everyone who worked or walked them, well, you did it, orange cones, barrels and all. Well done. We look forward to year eight.

Week’s positive parting thought: Welcome, expanded Scarecrowfest! The activities Oct. 12-19 will keep us celebrating as we anticipate Halloween, Early Birds, Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest, Gardens Aglow and more.
