Lenten services begin at First Congo
The Rev. Susan Craig, minister of the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, will begin a series of Lenten sermons on Feb. 14. This year’s theme for Lent is “To love God with all our heart, soul, mind, strength and our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40). Sermons will be based on the theme developed by the Still-speaking Writers’ Group of the United Church of Christ.
Holy week services will include a 10 a.m. service on Palm Sunday, 7 p.m. candlelight Tenebrae service on Maundy Thursday and two services on Easter, a shared 6 a.m. sunrise service with St. Philip’s Episcopal Church on the town dock, and a 10 a.m. Easter Celebration service in the meetinghouse.
Beginning on Feb. 23 and continuing through March 15, Reverend Craig will lead a Lenten Bible study group on Tuesdays from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
