Lincoln County Dental receives $25K gift
Last week, Lincoln County Dental in Damariscotta received an unexpected gift of $25,000 from generous donors from the local community who wish to remain anonymous.
Along with the donation came these words to Kathryn Young, LCD board member: “What would our community do without you and Lincoln County Dental services? Thank you so much for providing sound and imaginative leadership of LCD ... we hope this helps you and the team to breathe easier for a bit, with our best wishes and appreciation to you and your incredibly generous and dedicated team.”
The donor is so impressed with the work of the volunteer dental professionals and paid staff, they doubled their donation from previous years with this one time gift. The money will be set aside for adult services for qualified individuals.
Though some available funding sources focus only on children, LCD wants to help relieve the infection, pain and suffering of adults needing services, as well. Teaching adults to care properly for their own oral health will help them care properly for their children. Adults are definitely part of the solution.
Lincoln County Dental’s mission is to provide access to dental care to those individuals who are at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line and have no dental home. This wonderful gift will help some of the 784 present clients of LCD, as well as others waiting to be served. Each dollar will be stretched to provide care for as many adults as possible, so that they can be pain free, eat normally and smile.
