Lincoln County Triad Senior Appreciation Day Oct. 22

Tue, 10/18/2016 - 2:30pm

On Saturday, Oct. 22 the older population of Lincoln County will be able to attend a free event designed just for them. The Lincoln County Triad is sponsoring their 16th annual Senior Appreciation Day at Boothbay Region Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. You do not have to register in advance.

There will be over 30 exhibitors. Lincoln Health will be administering free flu shots to the Medicare crowd and there will be physical therapists available. Spectrum Generations will highlight the Medicare insurance enrollment period just starting and their senior fitness instructor will be helping folks decide on exercise programs. Both FISH transportation programs from Damariscotta and Boothbay Harbor, AARP with up to date information on fraud, insurance and the elections, and many others will provide “one stop shopping” for senior services.

Best of all, there is the traditional free hot dog and baked bean lunch with brownie sundaes for dessert. Door prizes provided by the exhibitors will be awarded after lunch. At that time the surprise Senior Volunteer of the Year award will be presented.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, before, or after visiting Senior Appreciation Day, drop your unused, expired and unwanted medications off at a Medication Collection Day site. They may be taken to one of five drop off locations in Lincoln County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sites are: Lincoln Health - Miles Campus in Damariscotta, the Lincoln County Communications Building in Wiscasset, the town office in Boothbay Harbor, the Waldoboro Police Department at the town office building in Waldoboro and the Sheepscot Valley Health Care in Whitefield.

The Lincoln County Triad is a three way partnership between senior citizens, law enforcement officials and community service agencies. Volunteers work to enhance service delivery to the older citizens of Lincoln County.

Through an event such as Senior Appreciation Day, Triad provides an opportunity for seniors to express concerns about their physical and financial security with law enforcement and service providers one on one.
