LincolnHealth reported 11 new COVID-19 cases out of 293 tests for the week of March 28. The downward trend from over the past several weeks continues with the fewest amount of cases and lowest positivity rate, 3.75%, since last July.

Breakthrough cases, those who were vaccinated and contracted the virus, are at their lowest since last August with just five cases. Of those, two had their booster shots, the lowest number since mid-February when LincolnHealth began tracking the demographic. Like the previous week, two of the overall positive cases were patients 18 and under, the lowest number since LincolnHealth began tracking the demographic in late July.

“It’s hard to believe that 10 weeks ago, we had a 26% positivity rate,” said LincolnHealth’s John Martins. “(But) we recognize that trends can change quickly and we are watching the numbers closely. We have seen an uptick in positive cases and COVID-19 tests the past few days.”

LincolnHealth is now providing second booster shots for those 50 and up and for those who are immunocompromised. Qualifying patients must have had their first booster at least four months ago, said Martins. All COVID-19 vaccinations are delivered through primary care providers and appointments can be scheduled by calling their offices or by visiting vaccine.mainehealth.org.
