LincolnHealth reported 44 new COVID-19 cases from 430 tests for the week of May 16. The positivity rate dropped about a percent to 10.23%, testing numbers by 65 and cases by 12. Breakthrough cases, those who have contracted the virus after vaccination, dropped to 25 cases from 47 the week before and from 84% of cases to 61%.

LincolnHealth’s John Martins said Lincoln Medical Partners pediatricians are excited to be able to offer vaccine boosters for children ages 5-12. The boosters were authorized last week by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“An appointment is preferred and can be made by calling your local LMP office or by going to vaccine.mainehealth.org and choosing your appointment slot,” said Martins. “This age group is eligible if five weeks have passed since their last COVID-19 vaccine shot.”

All other eligible age groups in need of the vaccine or their next booster shot can walk in to LincolnHealth’s Miles campus in Damariscotta or make an appointment online.
