Live webinar offering: Stop living paycheck to paycheck
Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Community Concepts, Inc. and Kennebec Valley Community Action Program are pleased to announce a four-week personal finance class on Mondays, November 23, 30, December 7 and 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. Participants will be assisted in establishing and realizing their financial goals no matter how large or small. Registrants will be paired with a NeighborWorks America certified financial coach and enjoy a weekly webinar program to reinforce their individual work.
Mainely Money, will be hosted in a live webinar format and available throughout the state of Maine. In this class participants will learn about budgeting, credit, banking and other personal finance matters. One-on-one free financial coaching with a certified financial coach is available through three of the NWHSME member organizations – Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Community Concepts, Inc. and Kennebec Valley Community Action Program
Financial coaching includes working with a trained, certified coach to identify and clarify financial goals and create a reasonable plan of action for achieving those goals. With the help of a coach, participants can explore the possibility of homeownership, refinancing mortgage or student loans, reducing debts or short-term goals, like saving for heating oil or for the holidays.
Overall, the program is designed to empower Mainers to take control of their finances and reach personal goals. The course fee is $30 per person and includes four hours of instruction, four hours of one-on-one coaching, a credit report, and individualized tools to assist students with reaching their goals.
Five organizations – Avesta Housing, Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Community Concepts, Inc., Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, and Penquis, Inc./MaineStream Finance – comprise the membership of NeighborWorks Homeownership Services of Maine. Each organization is an affiliate of NeighborWorks America and offers housing counseling and educational programming.
