AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 15, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,603 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,437 confirmed cases and 166 probable cases. 

Across the state, 993 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 69 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 211.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 35 hospitalized, including 16 in critical care and eight on a ventilator. There are 156 available critical care beds out of 357 total and 248 available ventilators of 307 total and 420 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 33,035 total tests performed, as of May 13. “Maine CDC will publish the total number of tests once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states. 

By sex, 847 females have tested positive in the state and 756 males have tested positive. 

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”
