AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 20, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,819 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,632 confirmed cases and 187 probable cases.

Across the state, 1,110 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 73 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 231.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 43 hospitalized, including 24 in critical care and 12 on a ventilator. There are 167 available critical care beds out of 388 total and 253 available ventilators of 316 total and 439 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 33,035 total tests performed, as of May 13. “Maine CDC will publish the total number of tests once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states.

By sex, 944 females have tested positive in the state and 875 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC.

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state. Today’s update came at 12:15 p.m.
