AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 26, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 2,109 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,894 confirmed cases and 215 probable cases. 

Across the state, 1,318 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 79 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 258.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 60 hospitalized, including 26 in critical care and 13 on a ventilator. There are 157 available critical care beds out of 394 total and 238 available ventilators of 315 total and 439 alternative ventilators. 

By sex, 1,093 females have tested positive in the state and 1,016 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.” 

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state. Today’s update came at 11:30 a.m.
