United Way of Mid Coast Maine invites everyone from the community to attend the annual meeting on Thursday, May 21 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington Street in Bath. Please register for the event by calling the United Way at 207-443-9752 or emailing info@uwmcm.org.

Lois Skillings, president and CEO of Mid Coast Health Services, will give a keynote address on the measure of a healthy community. The annual meeting is sponsored by Oxford Networks.

“A healthy community is a strong community,” said current Board Chair George Reichert. “United Way’s goal is to improve lives in our community in the areas of education, financial stability and health.

“I enjoy being a part of this United Way because the organization focuses so much on creating a healthy and safe community for all of us. From supporting our youngest community members through the Best Start Initiative and supporting local agencies who provide companionship and respite care for the elderly — and everyone in between — we want the best for everyone. I look forward to hearing Lois Skillings speak about a healthy community from her perspective in the field of health services.”

Also at the annual meeting the following individuals will be nominated for election or reelection to United Way’s Board of Directors: Mary Ellen Barnes of Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, Jim Donovan of Lincoln County Healthcare, Chief Mike Field of Bath Police Department, Fred Haer of FHC, and Matt Orlando of Bowdoin College.

City of Bath Police Chief Mike Field will be nominated for election to Chair of United Way’s Board of Directors. Bowdoin College VP for Finance & Assistant Treasurer Matt Orlando will be nominated for reelection to Treasurer of United Way’s Board of Directors.

Community Builder Awards will be presented to organizations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Mid Coast Maine community. United Way of Mid Coast Maine’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. In partnership with thousands of donors, United Way works to improve education, financial stability, and health for people in Brunswick and Harpswell, Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties.
