Middle school campouts at Hearty Roots campus
Hearty Roots will host two overnight adventures, at its Bremen campus, for youth in grades 6,7 and 8 grades in January. The Girls’ Overnight will run from 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan.18. The Boys’ Overnight will begin at noon Sunday, Jan. 18 and end at noon on Monday, Jan. 19.
The night will be spent in a large canvas wall tent warmed by a wood stove to keep everyone toasty. Sleeping bags will be provided; campers may bring their own, but otherwise just need to pack warm clothes for outdoor activities. All food and drink is also included in the experience.
If there is snow on the ground the group will snowshoe or cross-country ski, using rented equipment from the Maine Gear Exchange. Activities will include games, carving, arts and crafts and wintery fun.
For more information and to register, go to https://www.heartyroots.org/teens. Hearty Roots values equitable access to wholesome outdoor programs. Families can request a sliding fee that works for their budget right during registration, with no barriers or documentation needed, no questions asked.
