Mixed bag

On Mondays, we are rounding the turn for the print week’s Tuesday homestretch and finish. We may have most of what we need, much of which you may have already read on our websites. But a happy story is always welcome, and often we can still make room – the earlier we get it, the better, of course.

So this Monday, I was excited to see the story and photos Linda Winterberg emailed of a thank you gathering at Katharine Martin Savage’s for Wiscasset police. Thank you to the department for its service the event honored; thanks, organizers, for coming up with and executing the event; and thanks to Winterberg for sharing it.

We also appreciated Lynne and Gordon Kontrath’s sharing of a nice pic of the federal train car coming through. The Wiscasset couple are far from the only train lovers in a region with two nice railway museums, a history of passenger service and the hope, however distant for now, of having it again.

Week’s positive parting thought, sort of: With our sites daily reporting Maine’s COVID-19 numbers, including some new ones in Lincoln County, just imagine what they might be if people were not regularly wearing masks and  still social distancing where they can.
