Ever wonder how to change a bike tire? Is there someone you want to write to, but don’t know where to start? Do you love handcrafts, but have yet to try needle-felting? Learn how to do all these and more in a Boothbay-Wiscasset Regional Adult Education enrichment course. Classes begin Oct. 6 and now is the time to sign up.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine brings its free Fix-a-Bike workshops to the Midcoast this fall. Basic Maintenance & Roadside Repair takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Boothbay Region High School, and Thursday, Oct. 8, at Wiscasset Middle High School. Anyone who attends a basics class or with experience is welcome to sign up for Advanced Maintenance & Repair on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at WMHS.

Wiscasset Middle High School is the site of many creative offerings in October. Mary Sabins will be at WMHS on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with Needle-Felt a Little Gnome. Learn all the fundamentals of needle-felting while creating a gnome that fits in the palm of your hand. All materials are included in this $55 class.

Writer and artist Laurel Dodge, author of The Buoyant Letters of Mimsy Bell, will teach two classes, beginning the first week of October. The Lost Art of Letter Writing starts on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and The Naturalist’s Sketchbook on Thursday, Oct. 8. Both four-week sessions cost $125, include materials, and will be held at WMHS.

Wiscasset also welcomes new instructor Lisa Fourre with a four-week High-Conflict Survival Class for Women. Learn how to recognize behavioral patterns, respond strategically, and communicate with control on Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 7. The cost is $55.

A Field Course in Old Houses and Barns with Les Fossel returns on Oct. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alna Meeting House. After the first session, meetings will be held in the homes and barns of class members with as many sessions as are required to visit everyone. This very popular class is $135 and includes a potluck supper at the instructor’s home with a tour of his workshop. Les is one of Maine’s foremost experts on early buildings. His award-winning business has specialized in preserving our early buildings since 1975.
