New convenience store coming to Edgecomb
A new convenience store will likely open later this fall on Route One in Edgecomb. The Patel family, which owns Wiscasset Quik Stop and several other business properties in the region, has bought the plaza at 21 U.S. Route One and plans on replacing the three retail units with one convenience store.
July 17, the Edgecomb planning board gave conditional approval to the project pending receiving state permits. On July 22, Harry Patel confirmed the family is preparing the new property for business. Patel reported the store's name as All-In-One Market.
"We are opening a convenience store like the Wiscasset Quik Stop except for the gas," Patel said July 22. "In a couple months after finishing the renovations, we expect to open."
Patel added the store's name describes the market. "We will have beer and wine. There will be a deli. We will sell tobacco so everything all in one stop," he said.
According to the board, Sanjaykumar P. Patel bought the property. Board secretary Jackie Lowell said Patel's grandson Het Patel presented most of the application materials during the meeting.
The board meets next at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 in the conference room.
