PassItOn.com
OK, I am a bit behind the times sometimes.
Thanks to the TV ad I saw recently, I checked out the website, PassItOn.com. It was started 25 years ago by The Foundation for a Better Life. Its website states it was started “to promote positive role models and remind people of the values we all share. We don't sell anything or accept monetary donations. We are not affiliated with any religious group nor do we have any political affiliation (either formally or informally). We exist solely to create & share uplifting messages that hopefully inspire everyone.”
There are many wonderful, uplifting stories, videos and posters. You might want to check it out – especially after watching the nightly news.
The first story I read was about the Unified Sports Program at Salem Hills High School in Central Utah. This kind of hit home as Boothbay Region High School has had a Unified basketball program for four years – starting with its first game on Valentine’s Day 2023. (www.boothbayregister.com/article/unified-basketball-brhs-feb-14/170553). We commend Dennis Dacus, Allan Crocker and others who had a hand in starting the program. We also commend the BRHS students who volunteer to help the Unified players during their games.
Our news contributor, Candace “Candi” Joneth, has done a great job of covering the BRHS program since its inception. Her daughter, Chloe, is a senior Unified athlete at BRHS.
The first (and sorry to say, only) Unified game I attended was so much fun. These athletes put on quite a show (I can’t remember his name, but the game I saw had one boy nailing 3-pointers after 3-pointers!).
If you haven’t seen a game, the BRHS faculty and Unified athletes are scheduled to face off on Wednesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. at Porter Memorial Gymnasium. Join in the fun if you can.
