Public informational meeting January 10 on future educational costs
The Wiscasset Withdrawal Committee will host a public informational meeting January 10 for the presentation of the financial estimates to operate a school district independently in Wiscasset.
This is the second public informational meeting the withdrawal committee has scheduled. After the committee announced it would tell Wiscasset residents the cost of operating such a school system at an informational meeting December 6, it declined to do so.The committee withheld providing the information on the advice of its consultants, Raymond Poulin and Norm Higgins.
In an email to the withdrawal committee dated January 3, Poulin said, “Norm and I have looked at the cost relating to Wiscasset being a municipal school unit and are prepared to share that information with you.”
The withdrawal committee encourages the citizens of Wiscasset to attend thismeeting, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset High School Library in the Wiscasset Fire Station at the Town Office complex. Citizens will have the opportunity to ask questions of the consultants as well as the committee.
The withdrawal committee will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. at the same location, to go over the information that will be presented by the consultant. The public is also invited to attend that meeting as well.
