R. John Cooper III
R. John Cooper III died June 1, 2014 at age 72.
John was a summer resident of McKown Point for over 30 years and a member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club.
He graduated from Amherst College, Harvard Law School and earned a doctorate in English literature from Drew University.
John practiced law for over 30 years. He started at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and became a partner at Casey, Lane & Mittendorf. He later became a general counsel respectively to Time, Inc., Young & Rubicam, and Havas Advertising.
John is survived by his wife, Unni Cooper; two children, Kirsten Cooper Poler and Russell John Cooper IV; and four grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Christ Church in Short Hills, N.J., on Friday, July 11.
