While tracks across New England canceled or postponed their racing events on Saturday due to unfavorable weather, Wiscasset Speedway took a chance on the probable window and ultimately won, successfully hosting all Group 1 divisions plus the lightning-fast NEMA Lites and Midgets.

The night kicked off with a 25-lap feature for the County Truss 4-Cylinder Pros. Brody Picard took off with the early advantage, but Chassidy Shorty was on the move, claiming the top spot on lap 5 as Max Parlin followed in succession. Parlin made his way to Shorty's door on lap 8, challenging for the top spot. A lap car slowed the leader shortly thereafter, catapulting Parlin into the lead. While battling for position, Sam Fogg and Darren Miranda made hard contact on lap 22, resulting in a red flag with just 3 laps to go. Max Parlin maintained command on the restart, scoring his second win of the season while Chassidy Shorty and Rowdy Romano rounded out the podium.

Matt O'Brien led the field to green in the night's Pepsi Spotlight feature: a 30-lap bout for the NEMA Midgets. Avery Stoehr was quick to steal it away as Joey Bailey lingered closely behind. Randy Cabral was on the charge early, overtaking second before abruptly coming to a slow on lap 10, resulting in a caution. Avery Stoehr got a good jump on the restart and began to pull away. Meanwhile, third place driver Mike Horn faced mechanical problems, pulling to the infield with just two laps to go. While Avery Stoehr scored his first win of the season, Joey Bailey and Brayden Egan completed the top 3.

Andy Gilbert hopped out to the early lead in the 40-lap feature for the T&L Automotive Modifieds. Kelly Moore was also on the move early, diving to Andy Gilbert's inside on lap 8. The two drivers went door-to-door for a couple of laps before Moore pulled ahead on lap 11. Defending champion Nick Hinkley came to life as the laps wound down, overtaking second on lap 29. Although he was quickly tracking him down, he was unable to catch Kelly Moore, who picked up his third victory of the season. Andy Gilbert followed, completing the podium.

Jeff Farrington took off with the early lead in the 20-lap feature for the Maine Army National Guard Thunder 4 Minis. Ricky Austin made a bold crossover move on lap 2, powering to the top spot just two laps later. Shane Webber was quickly climbing the leaderboard, overtaking second on lap 6 as Derek Cook rode his coattails. Cook got bent out of shape on lap 8, handing third back over to Farrington. He ultimately regained composure, reclaiming the spot on lap 13. Shane Webber was all over Ricky Austin in the closing laps of the race, but Austin was able to hold him off, securing his third straight victory in the division. Derek Cook followed, rounding out the top 3.

Josh Hall took off from the point in the 30-lap feature for the Darling's Brunswick Ford Super Streets. Bubba Pelton peeked to his inside on lap 8 while David Greenleaf joined the fray, making it a 3-way battle for the top spot. Bubba Pelton powered to the lead on lap 11 while David Greenleaf remained glued to his quarter. While duking it out for the top spot, the two drivers made contact on lap 13, catapulting third-place driver Noah Haggett into the lead. It didn't last for long as Greenleaf straightened it out, overtaking the top spot. He sailed into his third victory while Noah Haggett and Bubba Pelton followed, completing the podium.

Calvin Bennett took off with the early lead in the 40-lap feature for the NEMA Lites. Randy Cabral was on the move early, overtaking second from Tiana Kibbe on lap 2. Jack Dumas went for a wild ride on lap 13, flipping onto his side in turn 1 after collecting fluid on the track from another competitor. This resulted in an extended red flag and although Calvin Bennett got a strong restart, Randy Cabral seemingly came out of nowhere, clearing him for the top spot. Cabral stretched his lead out to over 2 seconds in clean air, securing his 100th career pavement win as Tiana Kibbe and Zack Martinez rounded out the top 3. Cabral, who was joined by his family in Victory Lane, lovingly dedicated his victory to his dogs, who were also on-site on Saturday.

The night concluded with a 30-lap feature for the Davis Erector Group 207 Crate Modifieds. Ryan Phillips powered to the early lead over Allen Moeller. Travis Buzzell made his way to Moeller's outside on lap 5, challenging for second. Buzzell quickly took over the spot as Nick Hinkley lingered closely behind. Hinkley made way to Buzzell's door on lap 8 and the two drivers battled it out until Hinkley claimed sole possession on lap 12. Travis Buzzell backed down before giving it another go as the laps wound down, stealing the spot back with just two laps to go. Defending champion Ryan Phillips was too far gone at the front of the field, securing the victory as Travis Buzzell and Nick Hinkley completed the podium.

Saturday night's program brought endless excitement and new driver milestones. Team Wiscasset hopes to see even more of this as they host their Group 2 Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The driver meet and greet will take place on the front stretch at 4 p.m., followed by kid's bike races and qualifying heat races.

As always, adult grandstand admission is just $5 while kids 6 & under get in for free.
