Reindeer mesmerize WES students

Tue, 12/20/2022 - 8:15am

Two very special visitors came to Wiscasset Elementary School Dec. 13. Ed Papsis of Pony Xpress brought two of his reindeer to meet the students as a reward for the students following the schoolwide expectations of being safe, responsible and respectful.

The students were mesmerized by the peaceful creatures as Papsis spoke of all the adaptations of the reindeer’s paws that make them well suited to cold conditions. Students were very impressed to learn that the reindeer make a clicking sound when they walk so younger reindeer can find them when visibility is low.

The students had many wonderful questions, and Papsis made sure all the questions were answered. It was a magical afternoon for students and staff.
