Sally Jean Morse Twinem died on April 1, 2021, age 84. Born April 27, 1936 to parents Blanche and Roland Morse. Sally grew up in Skowhegan, Maine. She married Francis Patton Twinem in 1955. They met working at the Oak Grove Hotel, and were extras in the film “Carousel,” filmed in Boothbay Harbor.

Sally had one year of nursing school in Portland, Maine, after which she and husband Pat were married. His naval career brought them to Honolulu, Hawaii, Maryland, Virginia, and back to Carlisle, Massachusetts, where Sally had a dressmaking business and was a licensed real estate agent. Summers were always spent in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. They moved to Falmouth, Maine and then to McKown Point, West Boothbay Harbor, where they resided for five years.

Always ready for a new adventure, Sally and Pat then sold their home, bought a boat, and made the first of many trips up and down the east coast, sailing north to St. John’s, Canada, and south to Sarasota, Florida, often cruising the inland waterways. They relocated to Sarasota, where Sally earned her captain’s license. Sally made many friends at Longboat Key Club and the Meadows Country Club. Sally and Pat continued to summer in Boothbay Harbor, not missing an annual trip to Maine in 60 years.

A longtime member of JPVIS, and the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, Sally enjoyed both the competitive and social side of tennis, golfing, and sailing. She was also an avid photographer, and loved documenting life in Maine.

Sally was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Maine, Sally had the Yankee can-do spirit and independence; she could do anything she set her mind to. We remember Sally as happy, positive, funny, creative, generous, and wise, and so dedicated to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Pat, her three children, Bob Twinem (wife Brenda), Lisa Rosser, (husband Rick) and Patti Koenig (husband John); as well as eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
