Schmakers Bay reels in 4th consecutive fish relay win

Intense heat and a blazing sun didn't keep eight teams from forming for the 2025 Fish Relay Races during Windjammer Days. In fact, the weather conditions made this competition worthy of an episode of the MTV show "Road Rules!"
Before the races, members of team Schmakers Bay (Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club), Cyrus Blake, Toby Clarkson, Theo Crocetti and Holden Langenhagen, were stretching and otherwise limbering up. The pay off: a fourth consecutive win. This team ran like the wind, each member wore a more determined expression than the other. Their winning time: three minutes and 22:68 seconds; the team's time in 2022 was two minutes and 55.08 seconds.
In second place: Something Fishy in 3:51:09; third place, from Napa Valley, Krakens, 4:44:59; Fast & Fishiest came in fourth; Fish & Chips' time, 5:07:96; the Bottom Feeders came in sixth, 5:40:21; the Wild Peak Raiders took seventh in 5:57:74 and the Firebreathing Rubber Duckies finished in 5:57:74.
Competitors had various carrying styles, the cradle, heads down; there was the hooked hand inside mouth technique, the classic under the arms, and the I've got them and here I go style!
All 32 racers (eight teams of four) received applause, shouts of encouragement, and laughter as competitors wore the fishermen's gear that was either too small or too large; same for those boots!
Someone asked how long it took to remove the lingering scent of the fish post-races. The Schmaker's Bay team shouted, "Five days!"
