Search narrows for Wiscasset’s next town manager
Wiscasset is moving closer to a possible hire for its next town manager. Selectmen are negotiating with a candidate, Interim Town Manager Don Gerrish said.
The Eaton-Peabody consulting firm is aiding selectmen in those talks.
The progress comes in the town’s second try at filling the job. The board decided in early May to readvertise. Then-Selectmen’s Vice Chairman Judy Colby said at the time that the two finalists just weren’t the right fit.
In January, the board named Gerrish, a former longtime town manager in Brunswick, to return to the temp slot he’d filled once before in Wiscasset. He started in February and said on July 3 that he will stay on the job until the new manager starts.
Wiscasset’s last manager, Laurie Smith, left to manage the town of Kennebunkport.
