Send Holly back to the House

    Dear Editor:

I am writing today to endorse the nomination of Representative Holly Stover to return to Augusta as the Democratic State Representative for House District 48 (Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, Southport, and Westport Island). Oftentimes, the press focuses on major legislation and the work of elected legislative leaders. What the public doesn’t always see are the truly effective members who work really hard to help their constituents and their districts. Her work on the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services and the Government Oversight Committee would keep her busy enough—but she keeps working hard in any area people need help figuring out.

Holly Stover is that kind of tireless representative. She knows how to find answers to peoples’ questions; she makes good use of the more-than two decades of service as a professional in the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to assist in navigating what can be a series of confusing bureaucracies. Her long-time work didn’t end with her retirement; she is the executive director Lincoln County Dental, a nonprofit which assists the people that need dental care the most find access to those services. She also has stepped up as the program director of the addiction outreach partnership of the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council and the Boothbay Harbor Police Department.

This is not always the kind of work that makes the newspapers; but honestly, if we didn’t have Holly Stover, wouldn’t we need her?

Holly Stover is the obvious choice for House District 48 in the Democratic primary on June 14, and voters there won’t be sorry to send her back to represent them in Augusta.

    Michelle Dunphy

    House Majority Leader
