The heroic exploits of two Lincoln County residents will be recognized next month at the Maine Sheriff's Association Spring Conference at Sunday River Resort in Newry. The association's "Presidential Valor Award" will be presented to Hanna Meneses of Whitefield and Cameron Ryan of Waldoboro.
The two are being recognized for their March 28, 2025 rescue, in Jefferson, when they pulled a driver out of a submerged vehicle. Meneses and Ryan removed the driver after breaking the vehicle's window. "Their willingness to risk their own life to save the life of another truly is an exceptional example of unselfishness, and should not go unrecognized," wrote Lincoln County Chief Deputy Rand Maker in an email.
