UPDATE: There were seven accidents reported in Lincoln County between the hours of 6 p.m and 10 p.m the evening of November 28, according to Lincoln County EMA Director Todd Hartung: 1 in Boothbay, three in Waldoboro, 1 in Damariscotta, 1 in Whitefield and 1 in Bristol. No injuries were reported.
Nightfall brought some slippery driving conditions to parts of Lincoln County November 28. Roads south of Route 1 were experiencing motor vehicle accidents, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
In Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor, the wet roads mixed with snow and made the surfaces slick during the 5 p.m. commute. An accident on Route 96 occurred involving a motor vehicle sliding off the road into a pond. The vehicle sustained damage less than $1,000 and was non-reportable. No one was injured in the accident.
Boothbay Harbor public works foreman Jody Lewis said both crews from Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor were deployed around 5 p.m. All the roads were sanded and salted by 7:30 p.m. Lewis said since Boothbay hired a new public works foreman the road crews of both towns have been better organized by getting out on the roads at the same time. As of 8:30 a.m. the next morning Lewis said all the roads in the region have been cleared of hazards.
