St. Philip’s last chowder supper August 11
A passing of an age (maybe) is taking place on August 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset — the last fish chowder supper will be served.
After decades of dishing up homemade haddock chowder, fresh salad bar, vegetarian offerings, and dessert table that many gurgle over, the church people have decided that it is time to draw the curtain on its weekly chowder meals, at least for now.
Dwindling interest and spiraling costs have intersected, so if you’ve been intending to have a bowl of the church’s delicious chowder, don't put it off any longer. The charge is $15 per adult, $5 per child 10 and under, with those 5 and under eat for free.
Reservations are appreciated, but not necessary. The church number is 207-882-7184.
