Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) will offer its annual Summer with the Past, Discovering 18th and 19th Century Art, Crafts and History for children ages 7 through 11. Sessions will be held at Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, June 27-July 1, and at the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset, Aug. 8-12. 

Children will be introduced to each site’s unique history and enjoy projects and games popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. These activities vary depending on the timeframe of the historic site. Included in the activities planned for both sites are art and textile projects and unique craft work. In support of summer reading, each child may choose a book to borrow for the week. The books have been chosen based on their historical themes and/or relevance to Maine.

The program was designed by Louise T. Miller, education director of LCHA’s Education Outreach program. The goal of this program is to give children a greater understanding of the unique history of Lincoln County and its people.
