Summerfest funds distributed
On Sunday, Oct. 30, the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset distributed $8,150 to representatives of 23 local non-profit agencies in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the area. The funds represent the total amount raised at the 33rd annual Summerfest fair held in July.
Agencies, which were presented checks at the 10 a.m. service, are Camp P.O.S.T.C.A.R.D., Carpenter’s Boat Shop, CHIP, Inc., Church World Service, Cooper-DiPerri Scholarship Fund, Feed Our Scholars Program, Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers, Maine, Healthy Kids, Lifeline of Midcoast Maine, Lincoln County Animal Shelter, Lincoln County Dental Clinic, Lincoln Country Triad, MaineHealth Care at Home, Miles and St. Andrews Home Health/Hospice, MOBIUS, Inc., New Hope for Women, People to People, St. Philip’s Food Pantry, Tedford Housing, Tri-County Literacy Volunteers, Washington County Children’s Program, Westport Island Human Resource Committee, and Minister’s Discretionary Emergency Fund.
Summerfest, held on the town common in front of the church, has been an annual tradition for the past 33 years. All members of the church participate in the many activities such as the On-Common Café, dog parade and contests, children’s activities, and tables offering baked goods, crafts, plants, wood products, silent auction, books, jewelry, treasures and the giant yard sale.
