No one was hurt Friday afternoon when a tractor trailer mail truck struck a guardrail on Route 1 just north of Birch Point Road, Wiscasset Police Department reported on its Facebook page. Police said later, the truck was forced to swerve to avoid a vehicle that was traveling in the wrong lane through construction.

Wiscasset police and fire departments and a state police commercial unit responded; the scene was clearly shortly after 3 p.m., police said. No further details were available yet.
