Twin Villages Foodbank Farm (TVFF) grows large quantities of storage crops like butternut squash, onions, carrots, cabbages, and beets to ensure a reliable and consistent flow of fresh local food to food pantries in Lincoln County throughout the holiday season. This year TVFF donated over 3500 pounds of fresh vegetables to over 600 area Thanksgiving baskets and boxes.

Thanksgiving baskets are a huge undertaking, with dozens of area volunteers packing full and nourishing Thanksgiving meals for families across Lincoln County delivered to food pantries located in Wiscasset, Boothbay, Whitefield, Jefferson, Newcastle, and Waldoboro.

Newcastle’s Ecumenical Food Pantry organizes 330 boxes for families, complete with large turkeys, apples, potatoes, farm veggies and much more. TVFF’s fall crops are stored in the large walk-in cooler at the farm’s Food Storage Hub in Coastal River’s barn at Round Top Farm. Here the veggies wait to be packed up for weekly delivery to each pantry during the holiday season.

Twin Villages Foodbank Farm completed their 8th season this year growing over 40,000 pounds of food. In eight seasons, TVFF has grown over 300,000 pounds of fresh food and has collected another 200,000 pounds from area farmers and other sources for donation to Lincoln County food pantries and youth programs.
