Have fun and learn something new at Boothbay Region Adult Ed. Capture those special holiday gatherings with family and friends by taking great digital photos. What about dessert? Learn how to make a delicious paklava. Or you can learn new computer skills.
Impress your family and friends for the holidays with a delectable Armenian Paklava, a version of Greek Baklava on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The recipe consists of multiple layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and cinnamon. The assembled dessert is cut into diamond shapes and baked until golden brown. Pandy Dickinson will share her family recipe with variations in this fun class. The time is 6 to 8p.m., and the cost is $18.
In Get to Know Your Digital Camera, a two evening hands-on class, gain a better understanding of your camera including settings, functions, exposure modes and more. Bring your camera (with fresh batteries), and manual and learn to take great photos. The class meets on November 18 and 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $28.
Take Ukuleles for Beginners and make some music! Ukuleles have experienced a surge in popularity. In this introductory class you’ll learn about fingering, basic chords, and strumming. So bring your uke and join the fun. This five session class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning November 19, 6-8 p.m., and the cost is $55.
Adaptive Massage, taught by Patti Corscaden, LMT, is a therapy for anyone of any age who is experiencing a health challenge whether it’s cancer, heart attack, surgery, stress, or the aging process.We’ll discuss the role that massage therapy can have in the recovery process. Learn simple, effective massage techniques that may provide comfort and healing. the class is on November 21, 6-8 p.m., and the cost is $15.
Google Drive is a tool for collaboration using online "cloud" storage, and it's free! Do it all: documents, presentations, forms, spreadsheets and photos. Access files from any computer, handheld device or tablet anywhere. The class meets on November 19, 21, and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the registration fee is $35.
