Veggies to Table needs you!

Mon, 06/06/2022 - 2:15pm

Veggies to Table grew and donated 16,000+ pounds of organic produce to the hungry in our community last season. Our goal? To grow and donate even more this season. To this end, we could use a helping hand.

We are a non-profit farm in Newcastle. We donate everything we grow (top-quality organic produce and flowers) to our neighbors experiencing hunger and needing joy. We could use some extra helping hands as we prep our beds and plant our crops.

Volunteer Opportunities

Planting: Our kale, cabbage, onions, celery, eggplants and tomatoes are in the ground. Next up we have cucumbers, squash, melon, potatoes and peppers. The job will be so much quicker as a team!

Mowing and weed whacking: Help us keep the farm tidy and tick free. Also, we use the grass to mulch our beds, thus saving our precious resources.

Indoor Help: If the outdoors is not your thing, we have many opportunities—work virtually or in person on a variety of things from event planning, fundraising, and marketing to developing programs, writing press releases and grants, and community outreach. There are many ways to dig in, if not literally.

Other

Chemical free grass and woodchips for the Farm: We seek grass cuttings and woodchips to mulch the farm. They will keep our soil healthy cool in the hot weather, warm in the cool weather, cut down on weeds, and prevent erosion —thus enabling us to grow and donate even more food and flowers.

Donations: If you don’t have time, we can always use donations of any amount. All funds will be put towards growing and donating more farm fresh produce. Our goal— to feed those living in the crisis of hunger and spread #flowerjoy along the way.

We look forward to hearing from you!

And if you are in the Boothbay area, come on down to the farmer’s market from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday where we have an info table and Veggies to Table merchandise available. We look forward to meeting you!
