Over the weekend I traveled to North Carolina to photograph a wedding at the spectacular University of North Carolina Chapel Hill campus. It ain't Maine, but it ain't bad.

There was lots of history, beautiful buildings and an emotional coincidence.

While photographing the wedding reception at the very elegant “Carolina Club” in the UNC George Watts Hill Alumni Center, I shared a story with a guest about Charles Kuralt and some work I had done with him in Maine.

Charles was an avid supporter and devoted alum of UNC, and, it turned out, was buried in a cemetery there. I did not know this, but I don't get out much.

Charles wouldn't have been happy to know I was in town and did not stop by. I made a plan for the next morning. He loved Maine. I enjoyed a peaceful visit with good light, the song of mockingbirds and cheers from a soccer game across the street. I was pleased for the opportunity to share greetings from old friends in Maine.
